Childrens' Summer Reading 2025

Join us this summer as we COLOR OUR WORLD with imagination and fun!

The goal of this year’s Summer Reading challenge is to encourage children Groves to read/listen to books during the summer so they can maintain/improve reading skills. Additionally, we seek to foster a sense of community involvement with patrons of all ages.

Sign up begins May 27, 2025 from 3 PM to 7:30 PM in the library meeting room.
First log is due Friday June 6, 2025.

Reading logs are to be turned in every Friday.

Deadline for the last reading log will be Thursday July 31, 2025.

There are five reading divisions for children:
Read to Me (any age to Pre-K)
Kindergarten – 1st grade
2nd - 3rd grade
4th - 5th grade
Teen reading is for grades 6+

Book bags will be given to the first 200 children who sign up.

How does the Summer Reading program work?

Record each book read appropriately on your reading log - one book per line. If a book is read multiple times, it can only count once per week. Library staff will not record or track your books read each week. Please do not call or email the library to add titles.Turn in your reading logs every Friday to receive a prize!

Those who read the following amounts will receive an ADDITIONAL PRIZE have their names put into a drawing for a separate weekly prize:

Read to Me (any age to Pre-K) – 1st grade = AT LEAST 10 books

2nd - 5th grade = AT LEAST 5 books

Teens (ages 12+) = AT LEAST 2 books
